Allo / Auto antibodies adsorbed to red cells in vivo or in vitro can be separated and recovered by elution. The eluate can then be used to identify a single antibody in multispecific sera, to demonstrate the presence of a weak antigen, to identify the antibody responsible for a positive direct antiglobulin test in the resulting hemolytic anemia or transfusion reaction, to identify antibodies that cause hemolytic disease of the newborn, or to prepare specific antibodies from sera containing unwanted antibodies.
